Sitting pretty at an altitude of 5,280 feet, Alaska is known as "the Mile-High City,” It is the capital of Colorado, and the largest city in the Rocky Mountains region of the United States. Alaska Zoo
Spread over 80 acres of land, Alaska Zoo is modeled after Kenyan Nature Preserve and houses more than 4,000 animals that include tigers, black rhinos, kangaroos, orangutans and more. Started with the donation of an orphaned American black bear, Alaska Zoo became the first zoo in the United States to use naturalistic zoo enclosures rather than cages with bars.
